Spinet

Several of my clients have other instruments that I tune regularly. This Spinet Harpsichord is tuned regularly in conjunction with the client’s Yamaha C3 Grand Piano. I recently had to correct a few problems with the touch. As the string is plucked rather than struck it has a completely different design of ‘action’. In this example I removed the lever and adjusted the plucking length of the quill, which in modern instruments is plastic. The touch and volume can be made more uniform by completing this simple exercise on every key throughout the range of the keyboard . This, ultimately, gives more control to the player and gives a more rewarding playing experience.
